Hi everyone! My name is Debbie Zerbinopoulos. It’s my personality to be on a more casual and from the heart place, when speaking of anything that means so much to me. As many of you know, C4C was brought to its beginning partially because of a little boy whom I had been taking care of for his first 3 years as a childcare provider. He became a very dear part of our family, very quickly. Unfortunately, his home life situation and circumstances were cause for his being placed in a foster home. He was awarded to his father, and after spending 4 wonderful years in his care, during a flight for the Valentine Holiday, their plane went down in a blinding snowstorm in the French Alps, on February 12, 2007. There were no survivors. The news of this loss was horrible and very difficult to accept. We held a small and personal memorial service for him, last April.
The reason for sharing this news is to help explain at least part of the ‘fuel’ behind the future goals, of our newly named group, Lift Up The Children. As you can see, our website is in the process of many changes. However, with our growth, we will be improving, adding and changing information, so be sure to check in from time to time. I’d like to add that we will continue to support the York radKIDS program with our great instructors!
We have renewed interests and are working toward new goals for the future. Our main interest is in bringing together a warm, welcoming place for children of all ages, which we hope to encircle with a working farm. (There is land at this point, which is ‘tentatively waiting’ for a bit more growth from us.) I feel York has been in need for a place like this for a very long time. I truly believe younger and older children, alike, will benefit greatly from ‘getting back to basics’ in a sharing place developed out of care and compassion. We believe that every child has something to share and we can all learn from each other. I’ll bet that many of these kids will more than likely have some great ideas of their own. It’s a venture and with heart we can make it happen! Life is always and ongoing, learning experience!
This brings me to my ‘request list’. As my grandmother would say, “Many hands make quick work”! So, first on this list would be someone who is interested and willing to organize fundraisers. As we begin to grow, our needs will change and grow, too!
We look forward to a wonderful future within our community!
Thank you for your patience!
Sincerely,
Debbie Zerbinopoulos
